Hanging grasscloth is a slightly different process from hanging wallpaper.  The process is similar but there are slightly different precautions and procedures you need to take due to the almost linen-like material of natural grasscloth.

One such precaution is the adding of adhesive to the back on the paper. You need to be careful to not drip or spill any glue on the front of the grasscloth because, unlike vinyl wallpaper, you cannot easily wipe the glue off. More than likely, the glue will leave a mark despite your best efforts to quickly wipe it off with a damp cloth.

You also need to be knowledgeable about the expansion process.  Grasscloth expands once you hang it up, so it is always best to lightly wet back of the paper; this will make it expanded before hanging it up so that there were no bubbles.

There are many different tips and tricks to hanging grasscloth wallpaper. Everyone seems to have different ideas on what the best practice is for hanging it. We have compiled a few online resources that give good advice about how to hang grasscloth up in any room of your house.

Grasscloth is very luxurious. A good quality pattern can cost you over $100 per double roll, as you can see from the Shangri La or Inspired Elegance collections. Its important to keep mistakes to a minimum because you do not want to find yourself in a position of having to order more than you originally anticipated due to human error. However, it can be a great contribution to your home and makes one great design decision.
