Time for new bathroom wallpaper? We can help with this project by providing a bathroom wallpaper insight and scale and color suggestions. In addition, we can help you arrive at a good estimate for the number of rolls you will require based on your measurements and information. We have a rollage calculator on our site which is good at providing estimated number of rolls needed. The master bath, powder bath and hall bath each usually get a different emotion. For example, the powder bath is often flamboyant because it is often used by the guests and we like making a happy and surprising impression there. Whereas the hall bath is often exclusively for the children and we decorate to appeal to them and their likes. Kids usually are happy with nautical themes or character themes for the hall bath. Then the master bath often becomes more personal and intimate, in shades of your choosing. These, of course are by no means rules and if they were, it would be okay to break them, just a generalization. Some areas of the bath are just not well suited for wallpaper, like above the shower. You can do it, but you need to take a couple additional steps like caulking the bottom edge where it meets the tile to assure no moisture penetrates the wall. Then it is also a good idea to roll on a thin coat of clear shellac, which often darkens the paper a little but it also prevents the moisture from penetrating the wallpaper. It is a “trade off” but possible. Most all wallpapers today are washable, to an extent, and can be dried off, with gentle care, after taking the shower. It is also a good idea to leave the door open, whenever possible, to allow the humidity an additional way to escape. The air conditioner usually does a real good job of removing the humidity. Unfortunately putting wallpaper on the tile in a bathroom is generally not an option. Removing the tile is not a good option either. Selecting a wallpaper for the bathroom is not tied down to a specific theme any more, it all comes down to your personal preference. The colors blue and green always seem to be a good choice for bathrooms. Greens are invigorating yet relaxing, just a happy color. Blues are considered cool and calming with, in many cases, a high degree of sophistication. Modern wallpaper styles are determined by contemporary design trends and the liberty taken by the designer. You have a lot of choices which come under the heading of imitation look. Wallpaper is available in imitation marble, imitation tile, imitation wood look and even imitation brick look and they are all available as “washable”. Traditionally small baths have gotten small prints while large baths get large wallpaper prints and the powder gets the shocker style.
