American Horror Story: Home Decor Wallpaper Ideas

Posted on: October 27, 2014 by admin
Every October, millions of people circle around their televisions to laugh, cry, scream, and flinch through another installment of American Horror Story. Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk pen the show each season, crafting a different story each time – sometimes using the same actors, they update the story, the villain, the themes, and the decade. Fans will argue about which season is the best, what characters are the scariest, and which season is the best. Even so, most people love everything about the show, and easily move with the different settings and characters. Every season improves not only in ratings, but in the quality. If you love American Horror Story, you might find yourself wanting to recreate the rich settings for yourself – especially the interior design. Of course you might not want to live in a haunted house, an asylum, or at a circus, but you can capture the spirit of the show in your interior designs! [caption id="attachment_1377" align="aligncenter" width="512"]american horror story, ahs, murder house, interior design American Horror Story: Murder House[/caption] American Horror Story: Murder House The first season of the show saw luxurious interior designs that reflected the opulence of the family. The house was the central symbol on the show, and viewers saw it change throughout the years as they watched the different generations live and die. Do you want to recreate the luxurious interiors and show stopping wallpapers? Here are some of our suggestions: This Enchanting Damask print from Disney will truly show off your luxurious taste. The dark colors are reflective of the somewhat scary nature of the show, but they also show off your finances. If you look quickly enough, the pattern almost looks like ghosts! The Tulip Damask is another take on that luxurious print. This is just a lighter option, with the colors almost inverted. If you want something a little more modern, the Inspired Elegance wallpaper is a more contemporary take on the previous damask wallpapers. No matter what wallpaper you choose, recreating that extravagance from season one will leave your house the envy of all of your neighbors. [caption id="attachment_1378" align="aligncenter" width="432"]American Horror Story, AHS, Asylum, interior design American Horror Story: Asylum[/caption] American Horror Story: Asylum The second season of American Horror Story cleaned up the show, transporting the viewer to a sanitarium. Still, the sets were filled with grotesque interiors and interesting visuals. The show was at its ultimate darkest point during the season, because it highlighted not the evil that forces could do to us, but what evil things we could do to each other. There were many historical and political themes that intersected with the horror. If you want to recreate some of those memorable locations, here are our picks: Briarcliff is surrounded by woods, seemingly to keep the patients from running away. Hidden within those woods, there are some terrors and experiments. The Birch Trees Wallpaper creates that woodsy feeling without making the room too dark. You could also try the Trees pattern for a different look. The hospital was in disarray by the end of the show, the exposed brick falling apart and falling down. This Textured Brick Wallpaper recreates that feeling with a textured wallpaper that will give any room the depth. The final look for this season is the Antique Plaster wallpaper. Harkening back to a better time in the series, when Jessica Lange was dancing and singing instead of wasting away in a cell. This wallpaper has the old world charm of the show’s time period. [caption id="attachment_1379" align="aligncenter" width="512"]American Horror Story, AHS, coven American Horror Story: Coven[/caption] American Horror Story: Coven When it comes to American Horror Story, fans are extremely divided on whether or not they liked it. Surely it was some of the best acting, with Jessica Lange and Kathy Bates receiving awards for their characters that season. The show was more modern, more stylish, and had a lot more camp. The season saw a lot of blacks, grays, and reds layered throughout the interior designs. The show surprised with bursts of color just like it did with bursts of humor. For a more whimsical look on the show, you could try Avian, which copies the floating from the trailers for the show, which showed girls floating about their desks. Fans of the show reminded each other to watch, constantly Tweeting the hashtag #OnWednesdaysWeWearBlack in support of the Mother Supreme, played by Jessica Lange. The Vienna print is reminiscent of that theory, a subtle black and very dark grey print that has roses. By the end of the season, we see tours come through the different houses, each telling the tourists about the spectacles that happened within. This includes the story of what happened in Madame Lalaurie’s attic. The Faux Sidewall wallpaper is a great way to recreate that look. [caption id="attachment_1380" align="aligncenter" width="490"]American Horror Story, AHS, freak show American Horror Story: Freak Show[/caption] American Horror Story: Freak Show Freak Show is the latest in the American Horror Story saga, and it debuted with the highest ratings of any of the other seasons! It is definitely going back to a darker place. We are still in the south, but this time we meet our actors (and new characters) in a Freak Show circus set up. Of course, that means there are many more colors, though they are faded and muted. Not only are there a lot of colors, but also a lot of patterns, textures, and layers to the sets. Think of old school carnivals and the way they had run down charm. Can you imagine incorporating that into your home décor? If so, here are some of our picks: Replicating the teaser images, the Damask Stripes Sidewall is gray with just underlying hints of blues and purples that give it a bit of twist. The gray represents the time the Freaks are going through – everything is fading a bit and going bleak. The tents from Elsa’s circus are slowly fading from use, from sun, and from rain. To replicate that, use the Floral Stripes Wallpaper to liven up a room without making it an eyesore. The pinks and golds work well together, muting without making them boring. Twisty the clown, this year’s killer, is quite possible the most terrifying character since Pennywise. He is an obvious rundown clown, who uses a mask to hide his disfigurement. Still, you can see the faded polka dots on his bloodied uniform. Our Polka Dots Wallpaper is a great way to get that same look and feel without the nightmares. No matter what season or wallpaper you choose, you can recreate the interior designs from this show fairly easily!
